He’s my go-to guy. He knows how to sell (without selling). Now, I share him with you.
Dear Shanti’s Dad,
Making cold calls scares me more than snakes. Can you help?!?
JD, Cranford, NJ
Dear JD –
You’re certainly not alone! Cold calling is a universal terror.
It’s normal to fear rejection. This simple attitude shift could change your life: Don’t call a prospect to sell them your product or service. (No, not a misprint.) Call them because you honestly think that there’s a good match between their needs and what you’re offering. And that can help make their lives better. You know it because you’ve done your homework.
Your real job isn’t to sell. It’s to make people’s lives better. That’s why you’re calling. You’re a facilitator. If it doesn’t work out, it simply wasn’t a good match. Not a rejection.
Try it. It works. Sorry. I don’t have advice to cure your Ophidiophobia.
